Will they soon be replaced too, just to maximize revenue? The answer is quick: no, they're staying. In fact, for the 2027 season there will even be two more of these mobile homes for you. Here's why, in a bit more detail. Part of it is a matter of the heart, and the rest comes down to solid, practical reasons.
They're simply part of the place
The standard mobile homes are a piece of this beautiful campsite's history. When we took over the site, back then still called Camping Bosco, at the end of 2022, they were already there, and it was quickly clear: we weren't going to just let them go. We're attached to them. You can modernize a place without stripping away everything that makes it what it is - that's exactly what we try to do every day at Lakeview Cannobio.
Back then, we bought a place that had been fast asleep for years: stunningly beautiful, with the best views of Cannobio and, above all, of Lake Maggiore. But with a long backlog of renovations. It was the same story with the standard mobile homes - fundamentally good, if only someone had actually done something with them. So we did. Bosco became Lakeview Cannobio, and the renovation backlog became a modern site - without changing its charm or its beauty.
A place to live, not just to sleep
New mobile homes today are often built differently: bigger bathrooms, more space in the bedrooms, but a smaller living area. That has its merits. Our standard mobile homes are a bit old-fashioned in that regard, in the best possible sense. The bedrooms are meant for sleeping, so they're practical and compact. In return, the living area is more generous.
And let's be honest: where do you actually spend your time on holiday when you're indoors? At the table, cooking, playing cards when it's raining outside. With a smile and a glance out the window at Lake Maggiore, which is simply beautiful even in the rain. Many of our guests tell us exactly that, and some deliberately book a standard mobile home because of it.
Standard or Premium - what's the actual difference?
This question comes up almost every time, so here's the short, honest answer: less than many people think. Standard and premium mobile homes on Lake Maggiore sit on the same level, and the terraces are the same size. Both come with a microwave and a Senseo coffee machine. The premium mobile homes are a bit bigger and newer, but they don't have extra features like a dishwasher.
The real difference lies in the second bedroom. In the premium units, it has two full-length single beds plus a wall bed, so up to four adults can fit. In the standard units, the beds in this room are shorter. There's room for five people, with a maximum of three adults. For couples and families with children, that usually fits perfectly. And since we don't want to hide it: the premium mobile homes have a frontal view of the lake, while the standards only have a partial one. But the view of Lake Maggiore is phenomenal from there too - if you're sitting on the terrace of a standard mobile home in the evening, you'll hardly feel like you're missing out.
Made for guests with a dog
With every renovation, we've had four-legged friends in mind. That's why the standard mobile homes have particularly robust vinyl flooring that holds up well and feels comfortable under dog paws. Keeping your holiday affordable
A mobile home that we maintain and improve year after year, rather than replacing after a few seasons, is one we can offer at very fair, family-friendly prices. That matters to us. We want a few days by the lake to be within reach for families who have to watch their budget closely. That's also why a family holiday on Lake Maggiore is so affordable with us.
Of course, our holiday apartments and premium mobile homes are also reasonably priced and family-friendly. But with the standard mobile homes, we can charge a few euros less. Fair? We think so!
What's happened over the past few years
Right from our very first season as Lakeview, we had all the mattresses custom-made in special sizes, since standard sizes simply don't fit these beds. We've kept doing this regularly ever since. Every standard mobile home also got a new, custom-built kitchen, deliberately constructed to be extra sturdy. On the outside, we clad everything in real wood. It looks beautiful and uniform, keeps the heat out in summer and keeps the warmth in on cool evenings.
That same year, the large, covered wooden terraces were added. Honestly, for many guests they've become the favorite spot: a second living room with a view of Lake Maggiore, perfect for breakfast, reading, or simply relaxing there in the evening.
In the second season came the new vinyl flooring. In the third, we re-furnished almost completely - new beds in the parent's bedroom, a brand-new living room - and replaced all the walls. In the fourth, it was the bathrooms' turn, with new toilets and bathroom fixtures. Since then, the standard mobile homes also come with a microwave and a Senseo coffee machine, just like our premium mobile homes.
And now, for the fifth season, we're replacing the shower cubicles entirely. It's quite an undertaking, since the shower cubicles are custom-made specifically for us. After that, though, the bathrooms will be finished and exactly how we want them. All standard mobile homes will also get new interior doors and a few more finishing touches. For dog lovers, we've got something planned for the winter break, too. We'll reveal exactly what it is when we present all the new features for 2027.
Almost like new
So today, the standard mobile homes are in a condition that feels almost like new. Almost - here and there you can naturally tell they've seen a few summers. We don't think that's a bad thing; if anything, it's a bit charming. All our accommodations are always clean and tidy. We never cut corners on hygiene.
What remains: good quality, a view of Lake Maggiore you don't often get, and a price-to-value ratio that's probably pretty much unmatched in the Cannobio area. Our guests appreciate that, and it makes us happy every single time.

A decision for years to come
We made a deliberate choice to take this path. For the 2027 season, we're even adding two more standard mobile homes on the new mobile home terrace - units that had previously been kept in storage. Over the winter, we'll bring them up to the same standard as all the others.
This way, we can keep offering couples, families and dog lovers an affordable mobile home in Cannobio on Lake Maggiore going forward, with quality and a lake view, without having to spend a fortune.
