Anyone looking for wellness, spas, steam baths, and beautiful sauna areas in Cannobio on Lake Maggiore might be a little disappointed. Cannobio is a mecca for campers, hikers, cyclists, and—above all—water sports enthusiasts, but for an outstanding wellness experience, you’ll have to drive about 20 minutes. However, those 20 minutes are definitely worth it!
This short trip takes us to Locarno (Switzerland), to Termali Salini & Spa, located right next to the Lido Locarno swimming pool with its water slides. For some families, this might be the perfect way to split up: (older) kids head to the water slides, while parents enjoy an undisturbed wellness program at the spa. There is even a combined ticket available for both facilities.

The Saltwater Bath
Termali Salini & Spa is a small but exquisite wellness temple. The architecture is wonderful, with a strong focus on natural building materials, decorative driftwood elements, and atmospheric lighting. The centerpiece is the largest natural saltwater bath in Ticino. Jets, bubbles, and water massage loungers invite you to unwind: a holiday for body and soul in wonderfully warm saltwater. Inside, several small pools on different levels and with varying temperatures (up to 39°C) complete the experience. Outside, you can see the full splendor of Lake Maggiore, Locarno, and the nearby Ticino mountains. This view is particularly beautiful in the evening while you enjoy a hot water massage from the jets.
Steam Bath and Sauna World
Via a bridge over the thermal pool, you reach the relaxation rooms on the first floor and the minimalist, modern herbal steam bath. Right next to it is the beautiful sauna area, where singing bowls announce the various infusions. In summer, it is possible to cool off directly in the adjacent Lake Maggiore. The sauna world is accessible from age 16 if accompanied, and from age 18 alone.
Bistro, Private Spa, and Massages
A small spa bistro invites you to take a break with healthy snacks, and there are also lovely lounging areas here. In the upper area, there are private spa suites for a more exclusive but very beautiful private spa experience. Naturally, you can also book massages and treatments.
Prices and Opening Hours
Important: This is not a family water park with thermal pools; if that's what you're looking for, Lido Locarno next door is the place to be. Termali Salini & Spa is a high-end and premium-priced spa experience right on Lake Maggiore, with magnificent views and a beautiful interior. Perfect for a relaxing day for two.
Admission to the saltwater bath costs 39 francs for adults, 46 francs with sauna, and 54 francs for all areas. From 7 PM, there is a discounted evening admission for 31 francs. Children from 4 years old are allowed in the saltwater bath when accompanied by an adult (as of 2026). It is open daily, in summer from 10 AM to 9 PM, otherwise from 9 AM to 9:30 PM.
