James Bond Bungee Jump (Ticino, CH)
About 40 minutes from Cannobio Lakeview Camp & Resort is the Valle Verzasca(Verzasca Valley). The dam at the entrance to the valley in the village of Vogorno is 220 m high, one of the highest dams in the world, and an important supplier of electricity for Ticino and southern Switzerland.
The dam became world famous in 1995: In the opening scene of James Bond’s “Goldeneye,” the British secret agent James Bond runs over the wall, attaches himself to a rope and jumps down the 220-meter-high wall to penetrate a Russian chemical plant. Of course, the quick change of location is fictional and the Verzasca Valley is obviously not in Russia, but the jump is quite real and breathtaking: During the summer months, a Swiss company offers the world-famous jump from the Verzasca Dam from 220m, one of the highest bungee jumps in the world, on a daily basis. Jumps are also possible in the off-season by arrangement.
At around 200 francs, this jump is not exactly a cheap adventure, but it is a truly unique one.

With night jumps at full moon, backward jump and Ultimo jump (legs ahead) there are more adrenaline kicks for brave adventure vacationers who are looking for the unique experience. A truly unique experience for anyone looking for an adrenaline rush.
But even for the less adventurous, the trip to the Verzasca Dam and the James Bond bungee jump is worthwhile: as a visitor, you can cross the dam wall on foot and look directly into the eyes of the brave bungee jumpers during the jump. Also the preparation procedure and the pulling up after a successful bungee jump can be seen very closely. Some people came just to have a look and then were convinced by the atmosphere on site and jumped themselves!
Parking is available directly at the entrance to the Verzasca Dam, in high season these are sometimes a bit scarce. From Gordola or Tenero you can also easily reach the dam and the other places of interest in the Verzasca Valley by post bus (regular bus service), which is very stress-free, especially in summer.
