James Bond Bungee Jump at the Verzasca Dam (Ticino, CH)
About 40 minutes from Lakeview Cannobio Camping & Resort lies the Valle Verzasca (Verzasca Valley). The dam at the valley entrance near Vogorno is 220 meters high, one of the highest dams in Switzerland and an important power supplier for Ticino and southern Switzerland.

The Jump from GoldenEye
The dam became world-famous in 1995: In the opening scene of James Bond's "GoldenEye", British secret agent James Bond runs across the dam, attaches himself to a rope and jumps down the 220-meter-high wall to infiltrate a Russian chemical factory. Of course, the quick change of location is fictional and the Valle Verzasca is not in Russia, but the jump is very real: From Easter to the end of October, a Swiss company offers the world-famous jump from the Verzasca Dam, at 220 meters one of the highest bungee jumps in the world. In high season, jumps take place Wednesday to Sunday afternoons; exact dates can be found with the operator.
At 195 to 255 francs, depending on age, this jump is not exactly a cheap adventure, but it is truly unique.
Night Jump, Backward Jump and Ultimo
With night jumps, backward jumps and Ultimo jumps (feet first), there are additional adrenaline kicks for brave adventure vacationers. Backward jumps are available from the second jump onward, the Ultimo is possible from the third jump. A truly unique experience for anyone seeking an adrenaline rush.
Who Can Jump?
According to the operator, there is no minimum age; what matters is weight: you can jump if you weigh between 45 and 115 kilograms. Under 18 you need written parental consent, from 65 onward a medical certificate. For weekends and summer holidays you should book well in advance.
Watching from the Dam
But even for the less adventurous, a trip to the Verzasca Dam and the James Bond Bungee Jump is worthwhile: As a visitor, you can walk across the dam and look the brave bungee jumpers right in the eye as they take off. You also get to experience the preparation and the pulling up after the jump up close. Many came just to watch, then got caught up in the atmosphere on site and jumped themselves!
Directions and Parking
From Lakeview, drive along the lake via Ascona and Locarno to Gordola and from there up into the Verzasca Valley. Parking is available directly at the entrance to the Verzasca Dam; during high season, these can sometimes be limited. From Gordola or Tenero, you can also comfortably travel by Postbus (local bus) to the dam and other attractions in the Verzasca Valley. The "Diga Verzasca" stop is just a few minutes from the jump site; especially in summer, this is the stress-free option.
The Alternative: Zipline
If the James Bond Verzasca bungee jump is too crazy for you, we have a nice alternative. Also adrenaline-filled, but not quite as extreme: Zipline Lago Maggiore. Fly like a bird at up to 120 km/h and approx. 350 m above the ground, for almost 100 seconds!
