The Lido in Cannobio with its Acqualand Cannobio is beautiful, but sometimes you want a little variety and not lie on the same beach every day. We have an alternative for that!
If you’re looking for a change of pace, we recommend the Lido Brissago swimming pool. It’s just over a 5-minute drive from Lakeview Cannobio, on the Swiss side of the lake in the village of Brissago, the last Swiss town before the border with Italy.
The old Lido Brissago swimming pool was recently completely renovated, and this renovation has really done it a world of good. Modern architecture now blends seamlessly with the old quarry stone walls of the terraced grounds. Several different sunbathing areas are spread across the various levels; they are immaculately maintained and all offer a great view of the lake and the opposite shore of Lake Maggiore. Even when it gets crowded in the summer, visitors are spread out so that you never feel cramped at Lido Brissago.
From the entrance, a path leads down to the first level, where there is a very nice new children’s wading pool. This large children’s area is very appealing to toddlers, and parents can keep an eye on their little ones at all times as they splash around.
One level down is the Lido Brissago restaurant. With seating that’s partly sunny and partly shaded, there’s something for everyone. The food is really good for a poolside restaurant, and the portions are generous. As is typical in Switzerland, the prices aren’t cheap, but they’re quite reasonable compared to many other beach resorts on the Swiss side of Lake Maggiore.
One level further down, you’ll find a small, modern pool and the incredibly cool diving tower: depending on the lake level, you can dive into Lake Maggiore from heights of about 5 m, 3 m, or 1 m and easily make your way back up to the diving platform via wide stairs. You can also rent various water sports equipment, SUPs, and pedal boats at Lido Brissago. The beach access is wide and ranges from sandy to rocky, but it’s very pleasant. Several lifeguards monitor the entire facility, so you can feel completely safe.
The water slide is definitely a real highlight: although Lido Brissago offers only one slide—and a rather simple one at that ( Lido Locarno, by contrast, has four)—this slide is just plain fun. The water slide is also surprisingly fast and fun. You race down from the entrance over several hills until you’re almost at the level of Lake Maggiore, passing trees and foliage that surround the slide and enjoying a magnificent view of Lake Maggiore. You might call it a water slide with a lake view.
The entire grounds of the Brissago lakeside resort are very green, well-maintained, and pleasantly natural. Perfect for the whole family, because there really is something for everyone: a water slide, a diving tower, a toddler pool, a large swimming pool, and, of course, the beautiful lake. The fact that there’s a heavily discounted family admission rate rounds out this lovely family outing. Parking is available right at the pool or across the street—don’t forget your change!
