The highest village in Ticino

One thing should be said up front: Lake Maggiore is not the Mecca of skiers. With a little searching, however, you can find one or two ski resorts where you can easily spend a few vacation days even from Lake Maggiore. One of them is Bosco Gurin: from the Maggia Valley, after a very winding drive, you reach Gurin, a small Walser village and, at 1506 m above sea level, the highest village in Ticino. And the only village in Ticino where German is traditionally spoken.

Lifts and slopes

The chairlift takes you to Rossboda, the middle station of the Bosco Gurin ski resort at around 2000 m. From there, several surface lifts and another chairlift lead up to around 2500 m. The slopes are mostly easy for children to ski, not too steep and quite wide. The valley descent is possible on a black slope and is challenging. For children, there are practice facilities at the Kids Village at the base station.

Tobogganing and summer in Bosco Gurin

In addition to the ski slopes, Bosco Gurin also has a very long and beautiful toboggan run and various places to stop for refreshments. There's also the summer toboggan track, according to the operator the longest in Ticino, which can also be used in winter. In summer, you can also rent monster scooters and tackle the very long descent with the scooters (note: cycling gloves are really recommended here!). A wonderful summer alternative with magnificent views! The lifts run in summer from late June to late September, though on weekdays only during the high season in July and August. In summer, the trip can also be combined very well with a hike in the Maggia Valley. Bosco Gurin is a truly beautiful destination with many recreational opportunities for young and old.

A ski resort closer by

The drive to the Italian ski resort Piana di Vigezzo, which you reach through the Cannobina Valley, is somewhat shorter.

Please note: Lakeview is closed in winter, as our season runs from mid-March to early November. However, Cannobio is a great starting point for the summer toboggan track, monster scooters, and hiking. You can stay with us in a mobile home on Lake Maggiore, in a holiday apartment on the lake, or on a pitch for your motorhome.
